MSN Messenger File Transfer Problem

Try looking at your anti-virus and firewall settings. Be sure to allow messenger for outgoing files. There are different steps for each AV program.

AVG Free:

  1. Double-click the tray icon to open the AVG interface.
  2. Double-click Resident Shield
  3. At the bottom, click on Manage Exceptions
  4. At the left, select Resident Shield Excludes
  5. To the right click Add Path
  6. Select the messenger folder (from your "Programs" list and click ok. You should now see the C:\ ProgramFiles\Messenger\ selected in a checkbox.
  7. Click OK
  8. Click Save Changes in the main interface
  9. Exit the AVG intrerface
  10. Try messenger again - the file transfer option should now be enabled.
