How to install a driver without an installer or .exe

What I do is first create a folder on the main drive called "drivers" and then extract the file to the folder.

 Then:

1. Right-click on My Computer (the desktop icon or the link in the start menu.

2. Choose Properties

3. Choose Device Manager (In Windows 2000 / XP, you have to choose the Hardware tab first and then Device Manager). This will display a list of the devices that are on your computer.

4. Right click on the device and click Properties

5. Choose Driver and click Update Driver
   You will be asked to browse for the new driver;

6. locate the folder you placed it in and choose the appropriate file>

7. Click ok

 

Additional Information

This is the easy way to install a driver that does not have an executable (.exe) or an installer package. It is really easy.

Before installing, make sure your driver is the correct one for your hardware; the wrong driver can have unexpected results.
